I am still trying to get up to Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls to try the grill cheese sandwich Kyle told me about. If you have ever been on a photo shoot with me you will find that I talk about food a lot. Anyway, these two were fantastic!! Had a great time getting to know them!
Five years ago I photographed a wedding for Stella and her man here in Northern Utah. She is totally awesome and was so fun to work with. Well, I bumped into her at the market here in Logan and we had a good chat. She now has a wedding dress company called Peony by Stella and a bunch of dress shops are now selling her own line of dresses. So awesome! Great to see you Stella!
I can’t believe we did this session FIVE years ago!
About 30 minutes south of Moab above the red rock, this wedding was dominating the mountainside a couple weeks ago. It took place at the incredible Whispering Oaks Ranch in the Lasal Mountains. The music, the food and the people were all amazing!! Seriously, I dusted off my guitar and have begun practicing since I heard these people sing. This was a very intimate wedding with lots of love and laughter and it was also outside of cell phone coverage which was refreshing. Glad to have been a part of it!
In no particular order…..
This summer was so incredible!! The best I have ever had! In large part it was because I made a lot of new friends with whom I had so much in common. I am a little eccentric (depending on who you talk to) but Scott was right there with me. Most people look at me cross eyed when I tell them I make home made cheese or that I just bought 30 pounds of raw olives shipped from California so I can brine them. Scott is a potter and a general renaissance man so he gets it. Great time! Great couple!
I was wearing a full winter coat, gloves, and a beanie and I was still freezing. Can you imagine how Tiffany felt. I could see her lips quivering as she said, “I am fine.” How is that possible? I am freezing! I am just glad we did the pictures last Saturday rather than today. It hit -20 at my in-laws house a few miles away. What is going on?
The nice thing is the smog cleared out and the lighting and snow was really pretty. In between taking breaths we were able to get off a great photo session. I am telling you every season has it’s beauty, some just are warmer than others. These two are getting married next month.
Felica and Parker and Casey McFarland Photography were featured on Peter Loves Jane . Check it out!
There is a certain beauty to photographing this time of year and I don’t think it gets enough credit. The sun is low and distant and the only color to be found is typically man made so earth tones abound. White, brown, greys, etc… I love it. Like most of my photo sessions I have an idea when I begin a session and then all the variables start popping up, light, weather, time, personalities, chemistry, etc… and the next thing I know I have scrapped the original idea and end up with something entirely different than what I imagined. Such was the case last night and I am glad it when the way it did.
Park City is one of those ironic towns born of miners and blue collar workers of which you will find none of these people today. Still, it has it’s charms. We stopped in for some hot chocolate at the coffee shop/bookstore called “Atticus” named after the mythical Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. I had to resist the potent urge to peruse their used book section. My wife and I have an obsession with used books. You just never know what gems you will find. Anyway, back to Felica and Parker. These two are super fun and easy to photograph. We had a great time and I think we ended up with some sweet images. They will be getting married January 3 so don’t congratulate them yet! 🙂
